The Welsh Government has recently released a new scheme in order to “Keep Wales Tidy”. This new initiative involves planting packs of native seeds and plants somewhere local.
The idea behind this scheme is to introduce more biodiversity within communities; the seeds can be planted anywhere given that you have permission from the landowner. There are 3 main kits you may receive:
- A Butterfly Garden
- A Fruit Garden
- A Wildlife Garden
Each pack has a different purpose but all with the same overall intention; to create new life and a new environment for nature. When you receive the pack, it will contain all of the materials you will need for planting, including tools and compost. Some even come with added extras such as a “Bee Hotel”.
For communities wanting to take things to the next level, a development package is also available for larger scale projects.
In total there are around 800 packs available. In order to get your starter pack, you need to fill in an application form on the Keep Wales Tidy website: https://www.keepwalestidy.cymru/pages/category/nature
