Improving Farm Productivity Grant – Round 2 (England)

Round 2 of the Improving Farm Productivity grant is now open for applications and provides grants towards large capital items to help farmers and horticulturists improve farm and horticulture productivity through:

  • The use of robotic or automatic equipment and systems to aid crop and livestock production.
  • Wavelength specific LED lighting for horticultural crops.
  • Advanced ventilation control units.
  • Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.

For robotic or automatic equipment, you can apply for a grant between £25,000 and £500,000 per applicant business.

For solar PV systems, you can apply for a grant between £15,000 and £100,000 per applicant business.

How to apply

As was the case in the first round, there is a 2-step application process for this round. If you’re interested in making an application, start by reading the Improving Farm Productivity grant Round 2: applicant guidance – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) which gives more detail about the grant and how to apply.

Online checker

The first stage of the application process, the online checker, opened on the 25th of January 2024 and will close on the 21st of March 2024.

Full application

Those invited to make a full application have until the 30th of June 2025 to do so. Before you submit your full application, depending on the nature of your project, you may need to secure planning permission.
