February 2017 Journal

Welcome to our first blog post for CXCS. We want to tell you a little bit about what weve been up to since Christmas as things have been very busy indeed.

Health and Safety Service

In January we were delighted to announce the launch of our new Farm Safety Solutions service. We decided to launch this service in response to the statistics which show that farming is the most dangerous industry to work in. We felt this was an area in which we could really help our clients and so we have made it our mission to help farmers get on top of their Health and Safety issues; to understand the risks that they face and their obligations as employers and business owners.

The decision to move into this sector was driven by a desire to make a real change within the industry and we felt that we could use our experience in working with farmers to offer a comprehensive and cost effective Health and Safety advice service.

We have spent the last couple of weeks booking appointments for our Farm Safety service and have appointed a new member of staff (Naomi Richards) to come out and meet with clients to develop this service.

If you would like to have a initial consultation free of charge please give us a ring in the office on 01981590514 or email info@cxcs.co.uk.

A new Director of the company

The beginning of January also saw Karen Powell be promoted to Managing Director, Karen has been assisting Charles in running the company for the past 8 years in the role of General Manager and formerly in 2016 as Director. With the move to new offices, Charles and Audrey felt that this was the perfect opportunity for Karen to expand on her role, to drive the team harder and push the business forward through 2017.

Charles, who now assumes the role of Chairman, said of the appointment:

“I have been delegating duties over the years and am hugely grateful to Karen who has been a true inspiration and example in her hard work and dedication. She has been General Manager for some time now and became a director earlier this year. It is now time she took over more duties and Audrey and I are happy to announce that from January 1st 2017 Karen Powell will assume the title of Managing Director.

This is no less than she deserves, we are moving offices, we will be changing our work methods considerably and there is now a pressing need to drive still harder to achieve what we all need.

Im sure you will all congratulate her and support her in her new and demanding role, support which I know she can count on.”

Oxford Farming Conference

In January Karen Powell and Kaz Monteith attended the Oxford Farming Conference. Here is what Kaz had to say about the event:

“The Oxford Farming Conference was held at Oxford University between 3-5th January.

The people that we spoke to at this show were very interested in what we do, including Princess Anne, with both the Cross Compliance and the Farm Safety. They liked how we were out to help the farmers in all aspects of their paperwork, and those that have chosen to use our services have been very positive about our product.”

New Offices

Towards the end of January we moved offices to a brand new converted barn on a farm in Lyonshall. We couldnt be more pleased with them and all of our team feel at home already, looking out over the beautiful rolling orchards of Herefordshire. Our new address is: Orchard Barns, Crump Oak Farm, Lyonshall, Hereford HR5 3JY. Our phone number remains the same.

Over the next few weeks we plan to continue with the momentum of visiting farmers around the UK and advising them on their Health and Safety needs as well as of course the valued cross compliance work that we do for our customers. Many of which who have had their mini updates done in January and which we are finishing off the files for now.
