The current environmental scheme available in England, the Countryside Stewardship Scheme (CSS), is only open until 2024 for new applications to Mid Tier, Wildlife Offers, Higher Tier and Capital Only grant schemes, but offers a wide range of options and capital items to suit farmers and landowners across the country.
Applying for CSS now would allow farmers and landowners to secure a steady income for the next 5 to 10 years, with an opportunity to transition into one of the new ELM schemes when fully launched.
