Due to launch in Spring 2022, the Annual Health and Welfare Review is the first part of the Animal Health and Welfare Pathway to be launched. By offering farmers a fully funded vets visit, the Review will support improved understanding of health and welfare priorities on individual farms and nationally.
- Farmers will receive a fully funded vet visit on a yearly basis.
- Funding for the Review will be available for 3 years and will be reviewed after this time.
- A farmer’s own vet or vet-led team will carry out diagnostic testing and provide bespoke advice on management to improve the health and welfare of their animals.
- This will be available from spring 2022 onwards, as part of the Sustainable Farming Incentive early rollout.
Who is eligible?
Initially, the offer will be available to farmers in England who are eligible for the Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) and have more than 50 pigs, 20 sheep or 10 cattle.
The aim is to extend this offer to those not participating in BPS as soon as possible.
