2017 was an exciting year for CXCS, we want to share some of our key points from the year with you.
First and foremost the biggest change was the launch of our Health and Safety Service in January 2017. We decided to launch this new service in response to statistics that Agriculture is the most dangerous industry to work in in the UK and we felt strongly that we wanted to work with farmers to help lower these statistics and make the industry a safer place to work.
Charles Mayson, Chairman of CXCS explained, “Our mission is to help farmers get on top of their Health and Safety issues; to understand the risks that they face and their obligations as employers and business owners. We decided to move into this sector to utilise our experience in working with farmers to offer comprehensive Health and Safety advice and to make a real change within the industry identified as the most dangerous to work in in the UK”.
In Spring 2017 we moved to our new offices in Lyonshall, a beautiful barn conversion set amongst some traditional Herefordshire apple orchards. We are delighted to have more space, some stunning views of the countryside and everyone has settled in really well to their new surroundings.
Throughout 2017 our dedicated cross compliance and health and safety experts attended many of the farming shows, meeting old and new faces and answering all of your questions. We try to attend a mix of arable, livestock, dairy and general agricultural shows. We always welcome suggestions of shows to attend – if you would like to see us at a particular show please do email us and let us know or tell your account manager.
In 2018 we will be exhibiting at LAMMA for the first time on stand number 710, pop by and see Kaz, Tom and Lydia to discuss Cross Compliance or Naomi for any Health and Safety Questions.
Ellen Barber and Sarah Williams went off on maternity leave in the autumn and we are delighted to announce the safe arrival of both of their babies. Both ladies will be back in January 2019 – we look forward to having them back on board. Our growing team has been strengthened by some new staff, Tom Civai joins us as a Sales and Customer Relations Executive, Rhian Piggot and Clare Powell-Tuck have joined as office administrators and Lydia Dray as a General Administrator. We offer them a big welcome to the team and hope they settle in well to the CXCS family.
In December Charles Mayson gave a presentation to a group of 30 Agronomists at the Procam Advanced Agronomy conference at the Rothamsted Research Conference Centre. During the talk, Charles explained CXCS’ experience of Defra inspections and highlighted the most common criteria for inspection failures. This created a great deal of discussion between the attendees throughout the conference. If you would like Charles to present a similar talk to a group, please email charlotte.bevan@cxcs.co.uk to discuss further.
From all of us at CXCS we would like to wish you a Happy New Year and all the best for a healthy, safe and successful 2018.
