At the end of January, farmers and growers in England will be able to apply for a share of £850,000 through the Research Starter competition. Funding will be available for small research and development projects that are great early-stage ideas to solve major problems that impact agricultural businesses.
This is the third round of the competition which was initially launched in October 2021. Since then, a number of exciting and innovative projects have been funded. These range from digital solutions for vineyard planning to soil benchmarking and automated insect protein for poultry.

The competition opens 30th January 2023.
Step 1: Applicant submits an expression of interest. The deadline is 8th March 2023.
