The Nutrient Management Investment Scheme which opened on 4th July, offers capital grants to Welsh farmers to support investments that will enhance on-farm nutrient management to protect water, soil, and air quality. A budget of £15m has been allocated for this round of the scheme, with a list of eligible items to choose from which include slurry stores, slurry store covers, slurry spreading equipment, covered manure stores, GPS for precision farming, fuel tanks and bunds.
The grant is for a maximum of 40% of the actual invoiced costs of a project, with a minimum grant of £12,000 and a maximum of £50,000. Applications must be submitted by 12 August, and you must be able to complete and claim all Capital Works items by 31st March 2025.
A further £3m is also available under the Small Grants – Yard Coverings Scheme, which provides support to separate rainwater and slurry from areas such as livestock feeding and gathering areas, manure storage areas and slurry/silage stores.
