Peace of mind with smooth transfers

Entitlements are the method in which BPS is paid to farmers. It is one entitlement per one hectare of eligible land; without entitlements it isn’t possible to claim under BPS. Entitlements can be transferred via sale or gift, lease, or inheritance, and this action can be completed online through the RPA account or via an RLE1 form. Both entitlements and land can be transferred individually or together depending on the circumstances, but with either option it is recommended transfers are done promptly to ensure the changes are present on the submitted claim.

If there are more entitlements on the account than land area, and the additional entitlements are not used within two years, the unused entitlements will automatically be lost and go back to the national reserve. Having the sufficient number of entitlements for eligible land is the best way to maximise payment income. New entrants being new or young farmers can apply for entitlements from the national reserve, subject to meeting the guidance requirements.
