You may be eligible for a grassland derogation if your holding is at least 80% grass and the majority of your livestock are grazing livestock. Grazing livestock include:<\/p><ul><li>cattle (except for veal calves)<\/li><li>sheep<\/li><li>deer<\/li><li>goats<\/li><li>horses<\/li><\/ul><p>You can apply for a grassland derogation to use a higher limit of up to 250kg of nitrogen per hectare, if the nitrogen comes from grazing livestock manures.<\/p><p>You must comply with the conditions of a derogation and the\u00a0NVZ\u00a0rules if your application is successful. For more information,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/grassland-derogations-for-livestock-manure-in-nitrate-vulnerable-zones\" data-wplink-edit=\"true\">click here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p><h4><span style=\"color: #613a43;\">How do I apply for a derogation?<\/span><\/h4><p>You can apply for a derogation each autumn to cover the following year by telephoning the Environment Agency on 03708 506 506 and requesting the &#8216;Reg Aware Team&#8217; or by emailing REGAWARE@environment-agency.gov.uk.
