Rural Payments Agency (RPA) sheep inspections are usually unannounced and can happen at any time. Keeping your records up to date and fully compliant with RPA requirements is the best way to avoid stress and potential penalties.
Sheep record audit service
To make the inspection process easier, we’re offering a sheep record audit carried out by an experienced RPA Inspector. We’ll go through all your records to ensure everything is correct and up to date, so you can be confident your flock meets RPA requirements.
What will the RPA check for?
- Tagging sheep
- Reporting sheep movements
- Keeping an accurate and up-to-date holding register
Which records will be checked?
- Records of tagging – date and tag numbers for all animals, including slaughter tags; individual numbers for double-tagged animals and flock numbers for slaughter-tagged animals.
- Records of retagging – dates and new tag numbers, including previous ID if known.
- Records of deaths – date and tag number.
- Records for movements on and off the holding.
- Annual inventory – number of sheep on 1st December.
